My First Race on Snowshoes: The Avalanche & the Bum Slide
Published in “In Fitness and In Health” on Medium. I’ve been waiting to submit to this fitness publication for a few months, but I couldn’t figure out which story to write for them. I love and believe in their philosophy and because I’ve been on a personal fitness journey for the past two years, I thought that writing about the first race I did would be a good fit. This story is about how I tackled my fear and anxiety when I did my first-ever race on snowshoes, how I over-prepared for race day because of my fear of getting lost or dying, and how I inspired my son.

Way to go, Mary! I loved reading your story of how you overcame the anxiety associated with doing something new. I likely would have worn too much clothing too, by the way!

I remember at my elementary school, we used to have snowshoe races during the winter.
I seem to recall landing on my backside a few times.
